Fix It Sticks Rifle & Optics Toolkit Review – Compact Precision for Scope Mounting
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I mount a lot of scopes to my rifles. Until now, I’ve been cobbling together a mixed bag of tools to get the job done. It worked… but it wasn’t ideal. Enter the Fix It Sticks Rifle and Optics Toolkit — a compact, well-organised solution promising more capability in a smaller package.
In this review, I’ll take you through what’s in the kit, how it works, and how it performed while mounting a scope to my Wedgetail Industries MPR 308.
First Impressions & Unboxing
Right out of the box, the presentation is clean and professional. Everything is neatly laid out in a plastic retention tray, making it easy to see what’s included:
-
T-handle wrench – the core of the system
-
Variable torque driver – more on this game-changer in a moment
-
A wide selection of hex bits (imperial & metric)
-
Phillips and flathead screwdriver bits
-
Torx bits
-
½-inch socket – ideal for most scope ring crossbolts
Straight away, I noticed two big improvements over my old setup:
-
Fewer fixed torque drivers – replaced by one adjustable unit
-
Far more bits included – covering almost every optic-mounting scenario
Size & Portability
Compared to my old kit, this one is about half the size and at least twice the capability. It’s small enough to keep in my range bag, Jeep, or workshop without taking up valuable space. For someone like me who swaps optics often, portability matters.
Mounting the Scope – Step by Step
For this review, I mounted a scope to my Wedgetail Industries MPR 308 using the Warne XSKEL QD mount. Since it’s a quick-detach system, I didn’t need the ½-inch driver for crossbolts — but for traditional mounts, it’s right there in the kit.
-
Remove top rings – Remember, the torque driver is only for tightening, not loosening.
-
Check levels – I levelled the Picatinny rail, mount, and scope to ensure perfect alignment.
-
Set initial ring position – Just finger-tight for now
-
Adjust the torque driver – Here’s where the magic happens. The variable torque driver lets you dial in the exact spec your mount requires — in my case, 25 in-lb as per Warne’s recommendation.
-
Tighten in a crisscross pattern – Ensures even pressure on the scope tube.
Variable Torque Driver – A Standout Feature
This isn’t your typical click-type torque wrench. Instead, it uses an inner and outer casing alignment system. You rotate until your chosen torque value lines up — no audible click, so you stop when it’s aligned. It’s different at first, but I quickly grew to like it.
The result? A rock-solid, manufacturer-spec mount with complete confidence in the hold.
Extra Adjustments – Backup Sights
While I had the rifle on the bench, I also adjusted my backup sights. With the â…›-inch hex bit from the kit, it was quick work to move my rear sight forward for better clearance with the new optic.
Final Thoughts – Is It Worth It?
Absolutely.
The Fix It Sticks Rifle & Optics Toolkit exceeded my expectations. It’s:
-
Extremely compact – half the size of my old kit
-
Highly capable – covers almost every optic mounting need
-
Easy to use – everything clicks into place magnetically and feels solid
-
Precise – the variable torque driver gives real confidence in your mounting job
This kit is now a permanent resident in both my workshop and my range bag. Whether you’re a competitive shooter, a hunter, or just someone who likes to tinker with rifle setups, this toolkit is a smart investment.
